Latest Tour/Cruise Great Success: But Before We Left……We sang for Evangel Abundant Life and had a great altar service. 3 came down for prayer. I wish we could have taken all of you with us on the cruise, but over 150 did go and we had a great time. Lasting friendships were made and great food was consumed and more than that, Jesus showed up and helped the groups and soloists sing their hearts out to a wide variety of church and non churched people. WOW. We’ll never know the seeds that were planted. We left here Thursday, Jan 28th and left Uncle Garry and Aunt Peggy at Mom’s house to watch over everything. Many thanks to them! Mom went with us and we met Hendrix’s at Natchitoches State Park, in LA to spend the night. We got to travel with them for a few days and that was fun. It’s nice to have men along on a trip. We still didn’t have a tail pipe, our air bags were not fixed, & the damage to the bottom of the RV, where we had the blow-out was still there, as well as the front inverter was not working. But after praying, we felt God would supply the money to get it all fixed or keep us in our need. He kept us just fine! Hendrix’s pipes had frozen in the cold spell and they didn’t have any water and got stuck in an RV place & had to be towed out, so Satan started the fight early, but we fought back and WON! People were blessed at the church in LA where we love to sing. The Higgins’ are old family friends, and Rhonda got to see them all again. They loved Hendrix Trio and we had church! They fed us shrimp etouffe” & we had a great time! On Board the “Triumph” Cruise Ship 154 members of the 4 States Gospel Music Association boarded and found our rooms and got settled. This was Mom’s first cruise and we about wore her out. The ship was too big, the walk to the islands too far, her cabin too far from us, but she loved the Gospel singing and even did some of her own. She did manage to eat Lobster for the first time and loved it. I’m not sure the cruise was her cup of tea, but we had good fellowship with our passengers and 13 members of our kinfolks. We have tons of pictures to share, so check our web sites. We shopped Progresso and the kids went snorkeling at Cozumel. We rode a double decked bus & ate every few hours. We had chapel in the AM and Gospel singing every day. Many thanks to Rhonda’s Travel for putting it all together! After the Cruise……. We disembarked at 10:00 AM and drove 6 hours to sing at Sabastopol, MS at White Plains Assembly. We had a wonderful service there and they loved Mom’s singing and testifying. They fed us after church and had a BD party for a man. We drove to a state park and hooked up and finally got some much needed rest. We were tired but brought away many happy memories. Some of the funny memories were: 1. Rhonda tried to take a picture of something and managed to take a close up of herself! 2. Vicki, our sober cousin came alive and said she was dressing up for an on-board-romance. Her mismatched clothes, the huge flower in her hair and outlandish glasses lead us to believe she was successful, especially when she tried to crawl up on a chair to do a dance. She said she was chair hopping. 3. Some of the questions people ask on board are hilarious. Such as “Do these steps go up or down?” or “How do I know which pictures are mine?” Witnessing to a non churched couple/Nella’s Birthday Celebrations Most of the Gospel singings were standing room only, esp. as the week progressed and word got around. After one concert, a couple came up to us and asks all kinds of questions about the Lord and our beliefs. She loved Mom’s hair and kept feeling of it. Finally she asks for us to pray for her, so we’ve been praying for Megan. I celebrated my birthday while on the road and managed to celebrate most of February! LOL. We parked 2 nights at Ken’s house and treated me to grilled steak, chicken, mushrooms, & salad. I enjoyed getting the fire started outside with 10 year old Landen, who is a sweet & helpful young man. Then 3 nights at Tonya’s and more great food such as grilled shrimp, chicken tacos, Chocolate pie, gifts and lots of cattention. I got sweet gifts such as tulips, perfume, new dress, candles, chocolate covered apple, my 4 wheeler worked on, & some cash. I got calls, texts or emails from all my family including Brent Gregg, our former lead singer. He even remembered my birthday! God is good all the time. The Tour Continues…..After putting Mom on a plane to fly home, and leaving family, we got back down to the business of singing. It felt good and we are showcasing our new songs, getting ready to record, soon as the necessary funds show up. We sang at the Klondyke Music Center in Ozark, AL. We always enjoy Ron and Kathy and the folks there. We left there and headed to Southport, FL, Trinity Holiness Church. Sis Sandy is so sweet and they fed us at that church. Joy Parrent and her girls came to see us. Love you all! They use to live in Texas and have moved to Florida. From there, we made it to one of our favorite places, Grace Methodist Church in Hosford, FL, home church of Kyle Peddie, one of our favorite singers. He gave us one of the Gann Brothers new CD and we love it! He sang with us that night and then took us to eat Mexican food. We loves his wife, Hillary and the kiddos. We plugged up at their house and got some much needed good sleep out there in the country, close to the pond. Coffee was good the next morning in a relaxed setting. It was rainy and cold for Florida. After hearing of the record breaking cold in TX, FL and AL, I came to the conclusion God is smiling and saying, “What Global Warming?” A Few Days off Between SingingsWe headed to Ochlocknee River State Park for a 2 niter camp out. We’ve learned state parks are less expensive than RV parks, & generally much prettier. This time, I unloaded the camping/cooking gear and pretty lights. Angie cooked supper that night, breakfast the next day, dinner that night, and breakfast the next morning. So we got more home cooking than normal during this tour. We love our RV, can you tell? LOL It saves us motel expenses every night and makes it so much easier to travel. Plus we feel safer than in the small car. An elderly couple parked close by and we invited them to come enjoy our fire. Mr. Ziegert bought a CD, so we even made a sale over the campfire! There’s nothing like campfire coffee. We packed up and cleaned up and headed to Panacea Full Gospel Assembly to sing that night. It was a new place for us, but I think it’s gonna be one of our regular stops in Florida. They loved music and our kind in particular. Seafood Anyone?Panacea is close to the gulf, so the seafood is fresh. The pastor took us to eat the next day and some men from the church went as well. One newborn Christian shared with us his story. He said 9 months ago he was drinking ½-1 ½ gallon of alcohol daily. It was killing him. He was bleeding inside, his kidneys were shutting down and liver was crying for help. He turned his life over to Jesus and was immediately delivered from any desire for alcohol. God also healed him and helped him out of a prison sentence. WOW. The Power of God is still real!!! We could tell Panacea was the place to stock up on seafood, so we indulged and brought some home with us. Last night we ate Stone Crab for the first time and baby lobster tails. It don’t get no better than that, I’m telling you. I had it all over me and the table. It tasted better that way! More Interesting Stuff….. We ran out of propane and it got COLD in the RV before we could get more. We paid as much as 2.65 per gallon for gas. Drew told his Nana “Look Nana, the trees are dancing!” Room Service on board is awesome! They also fold the towels into animals each day. Texas got as much as 14” of snow while we were gone. Mom came home just in time to enjoy it. Until her electricity went out for 2 nights. I was worried about her, so I called the Sheriff’s office and they sent out an officer to check on her. She had her propane & kerosene lanterns going, a fire going in her wood burning stove and was heating soup on it, so she was fine. Her cell was charging in the car and she was snug as a bug in a rug. Thanks God she is as strong as she is, because she was out here with no neighbors home around her. They went elsewhere to weather the storm. We made her promise she wouldn’t go check on the chickens until it cleared up some. I could see her laying in the cold, frozen for days before someone could get to her. Thank God it didn’t happen. I gotta tell something funny on Mom. Before we left, she was asking what clothes to take etc. She says “I have plenty of room for my clothes and shoes in my suitcase, but I don’t know how I’m gonna fit in all my linens for my cabin on the cruise!” After laughing at her for some time, we assured her it was like a fancy hotel and they supplied all the towels and wash cloths. I’ve told everyone on board and they all got a “kick” out of her. Aint’ nothing up-town about us!
